A Review of the Boeing 777-300ER
One of the most iconic aircraft in the world, the Boeing 777 is a long-haul workhorse that’s flown to countless destinations around the globe. Its sleek fuselage, spacious cabin, and newest variants offer an excellent flying experience.
However, the 777’s reputation for reliability is in question after a series of accidents and mechanical failures. In particular, the aircraft has been plagued by engine problems and other technical difficulties in recent years. This has prompted aviation experts to warn that the plane is entering a dangerous phase of its lifecycle.
In June, an Air India flight from New Delhi to San Francisco was forced to divert to Russia’s Magadan Rusia 777 after a problem with its engines. The passengers were stranded in the Russian city for two days until the airline chartered an aircraft to bring them home. The incident highlighted how airlines that fly over Russia must consider the risks. This event will also have implications for airlines’ insurers and lessors.
The Rossiya Airlines Boeing 777-300ER presented here is configured with 21 recliner-style seats in Business Class and 436 standard seats in Economy. It is used primarily for long-haul service within the Russian Federation and to international destinations beyond. The aircraft is powered by GE90-115B engines.
While this is a very nice model it does suffer from some small issues. The nosecone detailing looks a little off in places and the detail on the rudder (and flaps) isn’t great. This is particularly pronounced on the slower half of the wing which is a bit of a shame as it’s such a key feature of the aircraft.
Besides this, the model is very well detailed and has a good range of options. It also features an interesting interior and good IFF capabilities. It is available at a very reasonable price.
This aircraft is a nice addition to the 777 lineup and a worthy rival to the Phoenix mould. It’s certainly worth considering if you’re looking to add a 777-200 to your collection.
